January 15, 2003 In July 2003, approximately 200 users throughout the University System will be saying good-bye to HUM and hello to Banner HR as their new Human Resources computer system. All HUM functionality will be replaced with Banner HR’s processes for employment management, benefits, compensation, position budgeting and payroll. The Banner HR implementation is the second phase of Project FRESH; the university system went live with Banner Finance in January 2002. Project FRESH teams have spent months learning the new Banner HR system and designing and documenting the necessary business processes that will be in place next July. Although the official Banner HR go-live date for users is July 1, 2003, the system needs to be up and running by June 1, 2003 so that payrolls for fiscal year 2004 may be run in parallel with the old system before Banner HR is made available to users. For the next several weeks, Business Process Teams will be working diligently on testing their specific units of the application to ensure that the coding they have done in Banner will produce the expected results. In February, integrated testing will take place to make sure all the Banner HR units operate as a cohesive system. Teams are also busy writing documentation and setting up security in preparation of the training sessions that are scheduled to begin in March 2003. Training is a huge endeavor and one that is critical to the success of the project. A partnership with the CIS Training department has been established to facilitate with the significant number of Banner HR training sessions. The training curriculum consists of both concept and hands-on sessions, and a variety of beginner and more advanced classes will be offered. Additional information on Banner HR training will be available in the near future, so visit the FRESH Website frequently at www.fresh.unh.edu for your latest updates on training and other aspects of the Banner HR project. |
